As a first-tier supplier to our renowned business partner Roche Diagnostics in Rotkreuz, we are currently looking for a motivated and dedicated Scrum Master for a temporary assignment of 1 year, with high probability of extension.

The candidate is a certified Scrum Master (CSM/PSMI) with a technical degree, practical Git experience, and a strong willingness to write thorough documentation for highly regulated environments like medical devices. While experience with C++, containerization, or event-driven architectures is a great bonus, this role requires an eagerness to engage with physical hardware and low-level systems rather than pure web, UI, or cloud-native development.

Tasks & Responsibilities

Roche is looking for a Scrum Master to join the PCR Hardware Abstraction team as part of an Agile Release Train (ART) following SAFe, developing C++ based real-time control software that drives the mechatronics, thermal, fluidic, and optical subsystems of their in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) PCR instruments. The software runs on PREEMPT_RT Linux and interfaces directly with custom electronics and sensors. Minimum working capacity is 50% and maximum 80% (100% possible if open to further activities in software development or other activities if no software development background).

• Act as a Scrum Master and team coach for the SW development team, facilitating progress, resolving blockers, and increasing workplace transparency
• Empower the team by applying proven Agile techniques, fostering conflict resolution, situational awareness, and continuous improvement
• Collaborate proactively within self-organizing teams to define, estimate, and plan high-impact work packages
• Leverage modern AI-supporting tools throughout the entire development lifecycle to optimize coding, testing, and troubleshooting workflows
• Ensure compliance with processes, propose improvements, and stay informed about regulatory and market standards

Must Haves

• Proactive and self-motivated team player who enjoys working across teams and organizational units, sharing know-how, and contributing ideas to improve existing products
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
• Min. 4 years of experience serving as a Scrum Master for a software development team diligently applying Scrum practices and theory
• Certification in Scrum methodologies (such as CSM or PSMI) alongside deep knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, and team empowerment techniques
• Practical understanding of modern development ecosystems, including Git/GitHub version control and setting up basic build environments
• Basic experience with C++ programming
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a natural ability to connect teams and resolve conflicts
• Highly motivated, deadline-focused, with a proactive and thorough way of working
• Willingness to work in a regulated environment (medical device, automotive, aerospace, or industrial safety) and follow structured development processes
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; willingness to write good documentation and drive work to conclusion
• Fluency in English

Nice to Haves

• Experience with IEC 62304, ISO 13485, or IVDR (medical device software lifecycle standards)
• Experience with event-driven architectures and message brokers (RabbitMQ, Domain-Driven Design)
• Kubernetes and Docker for CI/build environments
• Experience in agile development environments
• German language skills
